Team News

Santander

Racing score an unlikely last minute equaliser to claim a point at Villarreal last weekend, but that still wasn't really enough to help their survival chances as they remain 10 points from safety.

Lautaro Acosta was the man who got that goal and he should be rewarded with his first start since February.

Pape Diop has a hamstring strain so Edu Bedia could start alongside Gonzalo Costa in midfield and Mario Fernandez should continue to deputise for the injured Toño Ramírez in goal.

Probable lineups : Fernández, Cisma, Torrejón, Bernardo, Francis, Colsa, Bedia, Adrián, Acosta, Munitis, Stuani. (4-2-3-1).
Athletic Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao are another side locked on 45 points in the battle for a European place, but seven points from nine has reawakened their push for a Champions League place.

Marcelo Bielsa's men however haven't been at their best after European games in recent weeks and that could be a key factor after their exertions against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday night.

The Argentine coach though isn't a fan of the rotation policy and so will name his strongest possible line-up for the trip to Cantabria.

Probable lineups : Iraizoz, Iraola, Martinez, Amorebieta, Aurtenetxe, Ander, Iturraspe, Marcos, Susaeta, Llorente, Muniain. (4-3-3).

Prediction
Racing were slightly unfortunate in their last home game as despite going down 3-0 to Mallorca, they hit the woodwork three times and if they show the same level of commitment in this one they could cause Athletic problems.

Yet, Alvaro Cervera is still looking for his first win in charge of Santander after eight attempts and with Fernando Llorente in top form he could again be the key for the Basques.

If Athletic are to have any chance of saying goodbye to San Mamés with Champions League football next season this is a must win and despite the fatigue they should have enough to win.
Santander  1 - 2  Athletic Bilbao
