Old Trafford — Manchester
Referee: M. Jones
Team News
Manchester United
Sir Alex Ferguson has been fairly consistent in his team selection of
late and could well stick with the lineup that bounced back from defeat
at Wigan by convincingly beating Aston Villa at Old Trafford last week.
That could mean that much-criticised winger Ashley Young could retain
his place, after his alleged dive won the penalty from which Wayne
Rooney opened the scoring last week. Nani is back to full fitness,
though, and could be pushing for a starting berth. It is likely that United will remain unchanged.
Probable lineups : Gea, Evra, Evans, Ferdinand, Jones, Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Valencia, Welbeck, Rooney. (4-4-2).
Everton
Leighton Baines has a tight hamstring after last week's FA Cup defeat to
Liverpool, and it was confirmed in midweek that he will sit out this
weekend's trip to United. Tony Hibbert should return at right back with
Phil Neville switching to the left.
David Moyes also recently announced that Jack Rodwell will miss the rest
of the season due to a recurrence of his hamstring injury. Steven Pienaar will return to the fold after missing the game last week
as he was cup-tied having played for Spurs in the competition earlier in
the season.
Probable lineups : Howard, Hibbert, Heitinga, Distin, Neville, Coleman, Gibson, Fellaini, Pienaar, Cahill, Jelavic. (4-4-1-1)

Manchester United play early on Sunday, just a few hours before rivals
City, but enough time to open up an 8 point lead at the top of the table
with a win. Sir Alex Ferguson will be keen that his side do not drop
any points in the race for title, with the two Manchester clubs meeting a
week on Monday in what will be a huge game for both sides. A win here
for United could mean that they could confirm the title-win at the
Etihad - something their fans would love to see.
Everton were beaten in a crushing manner last week at Wembley, having
gone a goal up to rivals Liverpool, only to be denied a place in the
final late on by an Andy Carroll winner. They had been on a great run in
the Premier League before that loss - a run that has seen them move up
to 7th in the table and above Liverpool. After last week's result, they
will be very keen to remain above their rivals for he rest of the
season.
However, they face possibly the toughest game of the season here, and
United have not conceded a goal at home in the Premier League since
early Feburary. They have won all seven of their league home games in
2012, and at such a key point in the season, will not let up in their
chase for the title. With City not playing til later in the day, the
pressure will be off United, and they should run out winners. Everton
will make things tough for them, but United will have learnt from their
recent slip up at Wigan and won't make the same mistakes again.
Manchester United 2 - 0 Everton
