Team News

Malaga

Málaga's fine form came to an abrupt halt as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Real Betis last weekend. Manuel Pellegrini's side didn't play badly but failed to take their chances and were punished by poor defending at two set-pieces. The Chilean coach will again be missing the quartet of Julio Baptista, Jérémy Toulalan, Joaquín and Willy Caballero.

And Pellegrini must decide on whether to use Santi Cazorla in a deeper central position like he did against Betis or move him forward and bring in Enzo Maresca or Nacho Camacho to play alongside Martin Demichelis.
probable lineups : Kameni, Monreal, Mathijsen, Weligton, Sánchez, Cazorla, Demichelis, Eliseu, Isco, Fernández, Rondón. (4-2-3-1).
Santander

Racing seem almost certain to go down after another disappointing home defeat to Granada last weekend. The Cantabrians have now lost five of their last six and are seven points from safety. Álvaro Cervera is likely to change things round again as he has yet to find a winning formula in five games in charge.

Christian Fernández returns from suspension, whilst Khouma Babacar may drop to the bench as Cervera is expected to name a more defensive line-up to the one that started against Granada.
probable lineups : Fernández, González, Bernardo, Torrejón, Fernández, Diop, Colsa, Arana, Bedia, Adrián, Stuani. (4-2-3-1).

Prediction
After a shock home defeat Racing are just the opponents Malaga wanted to see and this should be a comfortable return to winning ways at La Rosaleda.

Malaga had 21 shots on goal against Betis and if they can create the same number of opportunities they should find a way past a Racing side that have lost their defensive solidity since the departure of Juanjo Gonzalez.

Salomón Rondón has nine league goals to his name this season and will be expecting to get into double figures as Pellegrini's men look to get their quest for Champions League football back on track.
Malaga  3 - 0  Santander
