Newcastle
Fabricio Coloccini picked up a hamstring injury against West Brom last
week and was forced off at half time as a result. Pardew confirmed afer
the game that he would definitely miss the Liverpool clash. Goal-hero that day, Papiss Demba Cisse was stretchered off holding his
calf against West Brom, though it is not clear how serious his injury
was and he could be available for this game. Newcastle will have a youthful defence, with it likely that Perch and
Williamson will line up at centre back, with Simpson and Taylor either
side. Hatem Ben Arfa will retain his place after a scintillating display at the Hawthorns.
probable lineups : Krul, Taylor, Williamson, Perch, Simpson, Gutiérrez, Tioté, Cabaye, Arfa, Ba, Cisse. (4-4-2).

Charlie Adam will definitely miss out due to a knee injury that forced
him off against QPR. Kenny Dalglish has denied reports that Adam will be
out for the rest of the season, but his injury will be reassessed in
the coming days, when things should become more clear. Glen Johnson, Craig Bellamy and youngster Jack Robinson are all rated as
highly doubtful, so John Flanagan could play at right-back once again. Agger and Lucas both remain absent.
probable lineups : Reina, Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique, Henderson, Gerrad, Spearing, Downing, Suarez, Carroll. (4-4-2).

Newcastle put in a classy performance last time out, winning 3-1 at West Brom, with Hatem Ben Arfa the star of the show. He, Cisse and Ba we all on top form that day, and Alan Pardew will be hopeful his front men can put in a similar display here, against a struggling Liverpool side.
Liverpool have been extremely poor of late. The followed up a loss at QPR after being two goals up, with a 2-1 reverse at home to Wigan. They have won only 2 of their 11 Premier League games since the turn of the year, and seem to be suffering after winning the Carling Cup and competing in the FA Cup at the same time. They have slipped to 8 points behind 6th placed Newcastle and are in real danger of finishing outside the top 6. A win here is, quite simply, a must.
Newcastle's 8 point cushion over Liverpool will mean they can play with less pressure than their opponents. If the Magpies were to win this game, they would put more pressure on Chelsea above them, and possibly even the out-of-form Spurs, while also all but guaranteeing 6th place. With only 1 win in their last 6 meetings with Liverpool, they may not be hugely confident, but both sides' recent form would suggest otherwise. This should be a close game, but with injuries in both sides' defences, there could well be plenty of goals.
Newcastle 2 - 2 Liverpool
