Team News

Santander

Racing slipped to another defeat to Málaga on Monday night, their sixth in their last seven, and remain seven points off safety with just seven games to go. Their cause wasn't helped as Francis was sent-off after just three minutes at La Rosaleda and he will be suspended along with Pape Diop who picked up his 10th yellow card of the campaign.
Following Francis' dismissal, Mario Fernandez saved the resulting penalty but he had to be replaced minutes into the second-half by 18-year-old Dani Sotres, and with Toño Ramírez still out injured, the youngster could start for the first time against Mallorca.

Probable lineups : Sotres, Cisma, Torrejón, Bernardo, González, Colsa, Bedia, Munitis, Adrián, Arana, Stuani. (4-2-3-1).

Mallorca

Mallorca played out a boring 0-0 draw with Granada at the weekend, but Joaquín Caparrós wasn't too downhearted with the point that takes them nine clear of the relegation zone. The Basque coach will be forced into a couple of changes though as Chico and Lluis Martí have both been ruled out through injury.
Sergio Tejera came on to replace Martí on Sunday and is expected to start in midfield, whilst Pablo Cendrós will continue at right-back with José Nunes starting at centre-back in Chico's absence. After such a punchless performance, Alvaro may also be recalled up front.

probable lineups : Aouate, Cendrós, Ramis, Nunes, Cáceres, Pereira, Tissone, Tejera, Castro, Alvaro, Hemed. (4-4-2).

Prediction
Mallorca are almost safe, but the mood coming out of the camp is that they want no repeat of hanging on to survive on the last day like last season and a win here will guarantee survival.

You would expect Racing to be the more desperate team, but in the past number of weeks that desperation has led to resignation and they haven't shown any signs of saving themselves.

Moreover, Mario and Toño have often been the Cantabrians best players in recent months and should the inexperienced Sotres be forced into starting, that could be another weakness Mallorca could expose.
Santander  0 - 2  Mallorca
