Anfield — Liverpool
Team News
Liverpool
Liverpool will be without Pepe Reina for the next three matches after he
was sent off against Newcastle, meaning Alexander Doni will make his
first start for the club since signing from Roma in the summer. The defensive trio of Johnson, Agger and Kelly are all nearing returns,
with the latter perhaps most likely to line-up this weekend ahead of
John Flanagan.
Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson could return to the starting XI,
the former facing his old club, with Adam injured and Carroll reacting
poorly to being substituted in an eventful return to Newcastle.
probable lineups : Doni, Enrique, Skrtel, Carragher, Kelly, Downing, Spearing, Gerrad, Henderson, Kuyt, Suarez. (4-4-2).
Aston Villa
Villa are severely depleted and will still be in shock following the news that captain Stiliyan Petrov has acute leukaemia. Carlos Cuellar joined the long injury list last time out, meaning Nathan
Baker and Eric Lichaj both made their first starts of the season in an
extremely young Villa side.
Despite their inexperience, Villa took credit for fighting back from 2-0
down against Chelsea, only to lose 4-2. Alan Hutton and Charles
N'Zogbia have an outside chance of featuring, with Marc Albrighton
likely to start after making an impact last time out.
probable lineups : Given, Lichaj, Collins, Baker, Warnock, Bannan, Herd, Ireland, Albrighton, Agbonlahor, Weimann. (4-4-2).

Prediction
These two sides have been amongst the worst in the league since the turn
of the New Year, with Liverpool picking up just 8 points and Villa just
10.
The visitors are far from safe just yet, and while they will be keen to
exploit Liverpool's current plight a growing injury list will mean that
the run-in could prove tough for McLeish's side.
Despite their recent woes, Dalglish's side have only lost twice at home
all season, most recently in a shock defeat to Wigan, and they will be
favourites to bounce back against a young Villa team.
Liverpool 3 - 2 Aston Villa
