Stade Vélodrome — Marseille
Team News
Marseille
Souleymane Diawara has reached the yellow card limit for European
competition and so misses this match, while Steve Mandanda was sent off
in the dying moments of Marseille's win over Inter in the last round, so
he will not feature either.
Loic Remy remains a doubt after missing the draw at Nice at the weekend
due to injury. Brandao could start up front if the Frenchman does not
make it.
Diarra, Morel, Amalfitano and Andre Ayew are all one yellow card away from incurring a suspension.
probable lineups : Bracigliano, Morel, N'koulou, Fanni, Azpilicueta, Mbia, Diarra, Ayew, Valbuena, Amalfitano, Brandao. (4-2-3-1).

Bayern Munich
Bayern are unlikely to make many changes ahead of the trip to Marseille. Bastian Schweinsteiger, Breno and Daniel van Buyten all remain absent
through injury, but that should not affect the line up with Bayern in
scintillating form of late, even with these players missing.
The potent front four of Ribery, Muller, Robben and Gomez should all start. Boateng and Muller are the only fit players for Bayern for whom a yellow
card in this match will mean a suspension in the second leg.
probable lineups : Neuer, Rafinha, Boateng, Badstuber, Lahm, Kroos, Gustavo, Robben, Muller, Ribery, Gomez. (4-2-3-1).

Prediction
Marseille made it through to the Champions League quarter final thanks
to a late away goal from Brandao at the San Siro. Even though they made
it through and will be delighted to have done so, that game was yet
another loss for the French side - in a run of 7 losses and a draw in
their last 8 matches since beating Inter 1-0 at home in the first leg.
That run has seen them slip to 9th in Ligue 1 and in very real danger of
failing to qualify for next seasons competition.
Bayern, on the other hand, are flying. They have won their 4 of last 5
matches, scoring 20 goals in the first 3 of those, and drawing the fifth
of those, before eventually winning on penalties. They will be huge
favourites to win this tie.
Marseille have made it this point in the competition averaging just 3.5
shots on target per game, the second fewest of the teams who made it
through to the knockout stages, while Bayern have had 8.3 per game.
Bayern also tend to dominate possession, and both trends are likely to
continue here, with Bayern taking charge of the game and probably
continuing Marseille's dire run of form. The French side might just be
powerless to stop Bayern's attack, and away goals could kill the tie
before they even play the second leg.
Marseille 1 - 2 Bayern Munich
