The Liverpool manager was flabbergasted that his team failed to hold on to their lead after totally dominating a match in which he felt they should have been four goals ahead by half-time.
Dirk Kuyt followed up Sebastien Coates’ sensational volley to put Liverpool 2-0 ahead in the 72 minute but headers from Shaun Derry and Djibril Cisse brought Mark Hughes' side level before substitute Jamie Mackie scored the winner in added time.“I don’t have any answers,” said a stunned-looking Dalglish in his post-match press conference. “What more can I say? We need to find answers and make sure we learn from it.
“I don’t think anybody saw it [QPR’s comeback] coming. A few of us had a feeling before the game how we would approach it after reaching the [FA Cup] semi-final.
“The way we started the game was fantastic. The only thing missing was a bit of luck in front of goal. We came in at half-time 0-0 but it could have 4-0 easily. It was a great goal from Seb, Dirk touched one in. You couldn’t see them getting a goal but maybe the luck they didn’t get against Bolton they got tonight.
“Most of the game we were dominant, creative and professional. They have walked away with three points.”
Dalglish refused to accept that his defence had dozed off late on as QPR fashioned their incredible comeback.
“I think they did concentrate for 90 minutes,” he continued. “You will have to find something else constructive.
“It’s not a lack of concentration, Give them [QPR] a bit of credit too.”
Asked what the mood was like in the dressing room, he said: “How do you think we feel? They never got what they deserved but it’s a tough life.”
Dalgish also revealed that Martin Kelly was taken off in the first half after taking a knock and Charlie Adam was withdrawn at half-time with a twisted knee.
