Team News
Netherlands
Some big calls will need to be made by Bert van Marwijk after the
surprise defeat to Denmark in their opening game at the weekend. His
side had more shots off target (22) than any club had in a game in
Europe's top 5 leagues this season, and they will have to work on their
finishing if they are to do as well as many had tipped them to at Euro
2012.
One of those decisions is whether to include Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to add
some extra threat in front of goal. Ibrahim Afellay may be the one to
drop out, while Robin van Persie would then move out wide. However, It
was an off day for the Dutch and they may well stick to their guns with
the same starting XI.
Joris Mathijsen has recovered from the injury that kept him out of the
Denmark game and trained with the squad for the first time at the
weekend. Van Marwijk has said he should be fit, so he may come in for
Ron Vlaar.
Germany
Joachin Loew could stick with the same starting XI that beat Portugal in
their first Euro 2012 match, with Mario Gomez leading the line ahead of
Miroslav Klose once again.
There were murmurs that Lars Bender may have started the last game at
right-back, but in the end Jerome Boateng got the nod, and he should
start again. Hummels had a great game at centre-back and could start again ahead of Per Mertesacker.

International Friendlies (FR) | Nov 15, 2011 | Germany 3 - Netherlands 0 |
Prediction
This game has been billed as one of the top games of the group stages and both teams have been backed as potential winners of the competition. This match was expected to decide which team would finish top of the group, but after the Netherlands' disappointing result against Denmark, it might well decide whether they even make it through to the quarter-finals.
Both teams have a wealth of attacking talent and could, and possibly should, have scored more in their first fixture, so it will be interesting to see whether or not they can find their feet in this game.
Nerves will be high and the Dutch will be desperate for a result, but they must make sure they do not get frustrated and let their performance drop as a result. A draw would keep both teams in the running without guaranteeing that either is through, and that may well be the result.
Netherlands 1 - 1 Germany
